Mufasa’s Untold Story? Disney Drops Exclusive Deleted Scene Before Home Release—Watch Now!

Disney’s Mufasa: The Lion King is still basking in its box-office glory, having clawed its way into the Top 10 highest-grossing films of 2024 with a massive $689 million worldwide haul. But now, fans can bring the magic home, as the visually stunning musical prequel has launched on Digital platforms like Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, and Fandango at Home—with its 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD release set for April 1.

And to celebrate, Disney has dropped an exclusive deleted scene titled “Have Faith in Her”, giving fans a behind-the-scenes look at how the film’s breathtaking photorealistic animation comes to life.

What’s the Story?

Told through flashbacks, Mufasa: The Lion King unveils the incredible rise of the Pride Lands’ legendary ruler. The story follows Mufasa as an orphaned cub, lost and alone—until he crosses paths with Taka, the heir to a royal bloodline (spoiler alert: that’s Scar before his villain era). The two set off on an adventure filled with destiny, danger, and unexpected friendships, all while evading a deadly enemy determined to destroy them.

A Cast Fit for Royalty

Directed by Oscar-winner Barry Jenkins (Moonlight, If Beale Street Could Talk), the film boasts a powerhouse voice cast:

  • Aaron Pierre as Mufasa
  • Kelvin Harrison Jr. as Taka (young Scar)
  • Tiffany Boone as Sarabi
  • Mads Mikkelsen as Kiros (the villain)
  • Thandiwe Newton as Eshe
  • Lennie James as Obasi
  • Keith David as Masego
  • John Kani as Rafiki
  • Donald Glover as Simba
  • Beyoncé Knowles-Carter as Nala
  • Blue Ivy Carter as Kiara (Simba & Nala’s daughter)
  • Seth Rogen & Billy Eichner return as Pumbaa & Timon

Bonus Features That’ll Have You Hakuna Matata-ing

Along with the film, the home release is packed with lion-sized extras, including:

  • Full-Length Sing-Along – Belt out all your favorite songs with on-screen lyrics!
  • Behind-the-Scenes Doc: “Finding Milele” – Go inside the making of Mufasa: The Lion King with director Barry Jenkins and the all-star cast.
  • “Songs of the Savanna” – A deep dive into the music, featuring Lin-Manuel Miranda (yep, Hamilton fans, you heard that right!).
  • Outtakes & Deleted Scenes – Including Taka’s Dream, What Do You Feel in There?, and the newly released “Have Faith in Her”.
  • Music Video: “I Always Wanted a Brother” – A heartfelt track performed by Lin-Manuel Miranda and the cast.
  • Protect the Pride – A special feature on Disney’s partnership with The Lion Recovery Fund to help protect real lions in the wild.

When & Where to Watch

  • Available NOW on Digital (Amazon Prime, Apple TV, Fandango at Home)
  • 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray & DVD – April 1

So, whether you’re a die-hard Lion King fan or just want to relive the breathtaking visuals and heartfelt story, Mufasa: The Lion King is a must-watch.
