Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment have announced the North American release of Overlord: The Sacred Kingdom, the latest theatrical feature film inspired by the popular isekai anime Overlord. The film will premiere in select theaters across the U.S. and Canada on November 8, following its Japanese debut in IMAX on September 13 and a general release on September 20. The North American screenings will be available in both the original Japanese with English subtitles and a newly produced English-language dub.

Overlord: The Sacred Kingdom picks up where Season 4 of the anime series left off, continuing the adventures of Momonga, a salaryman who finds himself trapped in his favorite MMORPG. His in-game avatar, Ains Ooal Gown, has risen to the rank of Sorcerer King in the game’s world. The anime series, based on Kugane Maruyama’s light novels published by Kadokawa, is currently available to stream on Crunchyroll.

The film’s storyline centers on the Holy Kingdom of Roble, which has enjoyed a long period of peace under the rule of Holy Princess Calca. However, this tranquility is shattered by the sudden invasion of the Demon Emperor Jaldabaoth and his demi-human army. Despite the valiant efforts of the Holy Knights, led by Remedios Custodio and her sister Keralt, the kingdom faces imminent collapse.

In a desperate bid to save her nation, Remedios seeks the aid of the Sorcerer Kingdom of Ains Ooal Gown, a realm ruled by the undead and despised by the people of the Holy Kingdom.

Directed by Naoyuki Ito, known for his work on Pretty Cure and Digimon Data Squad, the film is produced by MADHOUSE, with character designs by Satoshi Tasaki and additional input from illustrator so-bin. The Japanese voice cast includes Hitomi Nabatame, Yoshino Aoyama, Haruka Tomatsu, Saori Hayami, Satoshi Hino, Yumi Hara, Masami Seto, and Masayuki Kato.
