“Japanese Spider-Man’s Epic Makeover—New Suit, New Powers, and a Multiversal War!”

The Marvel Multiverse is a playground of endless possibilities, where heroes share names but rarely share identical stories. One of the most unique Spider-Men in Marvel’s history is Takuya Yamashiro—the Japanese Spider-Man who fought kaiju-sized threats with his giant mecha, Leopardon. But now, he’s getting something he never had before: a brand-new, distinctive costume!

A Fresh Look for a Cult Favorite

As part of the highly anticipated Spider-Verse vs. Venomverse event, Takuya Yamashiro will debut a fresh new look in Spider-Verse vs. Venomverse #3. The updated costume is a deliberate departure from Peter Parker’s classic Spidey suit, finally giving Japan’s web-slinger a style all his own.

This exciting reveal comes from an interview with artist Luciano Vecchio, who crafted the redesign with care and attention to Takuya’s roots. According to Vecchio, the goal was to distinguish Yamashiro while paying homage to the Super Sentai aesthetic that made the 1978 Japanese Spider-Man series such a standout.

Sentai Meets Spider-Man

For those unfamiliar, Japanese Spider-Man wasn’t your typical Spidey tale. Instead of radioactive spider bites and friendly neighborhood heroics, Takuya Yamashiro gained his powers from an alien named Garia. Alongside his newfound spider abilities, he piloted Leopardon, a towering robot that battled monstrous threats—a formula that heavily influenced the Super Sentai genre (which later gave birth to Power Rangers).

“I rewatched episodes and clips of the Japanese Spider-Man show to tap into that universe’s sensitivity and dramatic body language,” Vecchio shared in the interview. “I also referred to other early ‘80s Tokusatsu shows for aesthetic cues like the scarf and black lenses.”

This attention to detail results in a look that blends Spider-Man with Super Sentai flair, making it instantly recognizable yet refreshingly new. Writer Mat Groom also played a key role in fine-tuning the design, ensuring it fits within the grand Spider-Verse vs. Venomverse storyline.

A Battle Across the Multiverse

The Spider-Verse vs. Venomverse crossover promises to be a reality-spanning war between spider-themed heroes and terrifying Venom variants. As a fan-favorite Spidey, Yamashiro’s inclusion is a treat for longtime enthusiasts of the Japanese Spider-Man series. With his bold new look, he’s ready to swing into action and face off against the symbiote-infested chaos ahead.

For fans of both Marvel Comics and Super Sentai, this redesign is a perfect fusion of East and West—honoring Takuya Yamashiro’s legacy while bringing him into the modern Spider-Verse with style.

Get ready, because the Emissary of Hell—now with an all-new suit—is about to take on Venom’s army like never before!
