Aardman, the renowned British animation studio, has unveiled a series of significant appointments and promotions within its executive board, aimed at fortifying its leadership team and propelling its creative and commercial endeavors to new heights.

Leading the slate of appointments is Emma Hardie, currently serving as the BBC Studios Global Entertainment commercial director, who will assume the newly established role of Commercial Executive and Brand Director at Aardman. Hardie brings a wealth of experience in driving creative and commercial growth across various media platforms, with a notable track record in identifying and nurturing intellectual property with global commercial potential.

In her new capacity, Hardie will spearhead the commercial exploitation and strategy for Aardman’s esteemed brand portfolio, overseeing crucial aspects such as financing, distribution, licensing, marketing, and long-term planning of the studio’s animated intellectual property.

Commenting on the appointments, Aardman Managing Director Sean Clarke expressed enthusiasm, stating, “Our approach has always been to champion, nurture, and empower brilliant talent while also bringing in the best from across the entertainment industry. It allows us to capitalize on decades of experience while ensuring fresh ideas and innovative thinking.”

Hardie herself expressed excitement about joining Aardman, stating, “Aardman is an exceptional studio with an incredible history and place in the hearts of audiences worldwide. I am thrilled and honored to be joining such a fantastic team.”

Additionally, existing executive board members Sarah Cox and Daniel Efergan have both received promotions. Cox, acclaimed for her Bafta-nominated directorial work, has been appointed as the Interactive & Innovation Chief Creative Director. Cox will continue to provide leadership for the creative direction of the company while overseeing strategic planning and development.

Efergan, who previously served as the Executive Creative Director of Interactive, has been promoted to Executive Creative Director of Interactive & Innovation. In his new role, Efergan will spearhead efforts to innovate technology and processes to enhance Aardman’s creative storytelling in new and immersive ways.

Completing the changes to the executive board, Joanna Cave has been promoted to Finance Director, succeeding Kerry Lock. Aardman co-founder Peter Lord will step down from the executive board but will retain his role as Creative Director, offering development expertise and creative oversight across various projects.

With these strategic appointments, Aardman is poised to continue its legacy of delivering captivating and innovative animation content while further strengthening its position in the global entertainment landscape.
