Viggle AI, a Canada-based company pioneering the transformation of character animation through generative artificial intelligence, announced today the successful completion of its $19 million Series A funding round. The investment was led by prominent venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), with participation from Two Small Fish, further solidifying Viggle AI’s position as a leader in controllable video generation and AI animation.

The funding will be instrumental in scaling Viggle AI’s operations, accelerating product development, expanding its team, and reinforcing its dominance in the rapidly growing market of AI-driven animation tools. The announcement coincides with a period of significant growth for the company, driven by increasing consumer demand for accessible AI tools that cater to both professional and mainstream audiences.

Launched with the mission to simplify the animation process, Viggle AI leverages its proprietary JST-1 technology—an innovative video-3D foundation model built with an authentic understanding of physics. This technology allows users to generate lifelike character animations using simple text-to-video or image-to-video prompts, drastically reducing the complexity and time involved in traditional animation methods.

Viggle AI’s capabilities gained widespread attention recently when videos featuring Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker character replacing rapper Lil Yachty’s walkout at the Summer Smash Festival went viral. The platform’s intuitive interface and powerful AI tools have captivated millions, attracting a diverse user base that includes professional animators, major streamers, production studios, content creators, and meme enthusiasts. To date, Viggle AI has built a thriving community on Discord, with over 4 million members sharing insights and pushing the boundaries of creative animation projects.

In addition to its core offerings, Viggle AI has introduced the Viggle Creator Program, designed to support and empower artists and creators with exclusive benefits. Participants in the program receive a Viggle Pro subscription, 1,000 additional credits (equivalent to 250 minutes of video), early access to new features, and opportunities to connect with other creators through a dedicated community channel. This initiative aims to foster talent across the animation industry, encouraging both emerging artists and seasoned professionals to explore new possibilities in AI-powered animation.

For professional animators, game designers, and VFX artists, Viggle AI streamlines the ideation and pre-production process, allowing them to focus on their creative vision while reducing production timelines. For content creators and everyday users, the platform provides the tools to create high-quality animated character videos within minutes using straightforward prompts.

Viggle AI was co-founded by CEO Hang Chu, whose extensive experience in the tech and entertainment sectors has been instrumental in the company’s success. Chu, who previously held positions at AutoDesk, Facebook, and NVIDIA, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership with a16z and Two Small Fish. “We are excited to welcome a16z and Two Small Fish as partners in our next phase of growth. Their investment not only affirms our vision but also empowers us to redefine the possibilities in AI-driven character animation. As more people seek to integrate AI for a more enjoyable and accessible creative process, Viggle helps seamlessly align consumer demand by combining the best methodologies for building and scaling AI. We look forward to expanding the reach of our technology to an even broader audience and expanding the boundaries of creativity for everyone,” Chu stated.
