In a groundbreaking move reshaping the landscape of cinematic artistry, Lola VFX, a trailblazer in the industry, is embracing cutting-edge AI technologies and Deep Learning tools. Collaborating with VAST Data, Lola VFX is spearheading a new era in how stories are told through visual effects.

Renowned for its pioneering work in computer-generated effects for feature films and television series, Lola VFX is pushing boundaries like never before. By harnessing the power of the VAST Data Platform, specifically designed to support such advanced technologies, Lola VFX is streamlining global collaboration on data-intensive projects, transforming the storytelling experience.

The partnership between Lola VFX and VAST Data began in 2022 in response to the escalating demand for higher resolution formats like 4K, 6K, and 8K in the entertainment industry. These formats, coupled with the intricate visual effects prevalent in modern media, necessitate the management of vast amounts of visual data, presenting significant challenges.

A typical day of shooting for Lola VFX can yield over a dozen reels of 6K footage, translating to multiple terabytes of data generated daily. Managing this exponential increase in data volume posed three primary challenges: the transfer of massive data volumes from filming locations, the sluggish sharing of large files with VFX artists worldwide, and the need for real-time playback of high-resolution content during review and approval stages, often hindered by caching issues.

To surmount these obstacles, Lola VFX turned to the VAST Data Platform.

Edson Williams, Founder and Managing Partner of Lola VFX, expressed how VAST has revolutionized their operations, stating, “Our operations demand infrastructure that not only supports but enhances real-time global collaboration.”

Williams noted that while Lola FX’s demands are extreme, VAST Data exceeded expectations. Anticipating a payback period of 24 to 36 months, the efficiency gains experienced led them to expect significant returns on investment in as few as 15 to 18 months, a testament to VAST’s impact on their workflows.

Key benefits of the collaboration between Lola VFX and VAST Data include enhanced productivity and collaboration, streamlined administration and reduced data ratio, increased ROI, and global access to media assets, and the unleashing of new creative opportunities.

Jeff Denworth, Co-Founder of VAST Data, commended Lola VFX’s pioneering work in digital doubles and cinematic reality, highlighting the necessity for infrastructure with unparalleled speed, efficiency, and scalability. Denworth emphasized how the unique capabilities of the VAST Data Platform are reshaping visual storytelling.

In summary, Lola VFX’s collaboration with VAST Data marks a pivotal moment in the evolution of cinematic artistry, where AI and Deep Learning technologies are not only enhancing creativity but also revolutionizing the way stories are told and experienced.
