“Chris Pratt’s Packed Schedule Could Sideline Star-Lord in Avengers: Doomsday—Will He Make It?”

Chris Pratt is set for a busy 2025, and it might just keep Star-Lord grounded. With The Terminal List Season 2 gearing up for production, Pratt’s packed schedule raises questions about his availability for Avengers: Doomsday. While fans are eager to see Star-Lord’s next move in the MCU, Pratt’s latest commitments could mean a much smaller role—or even a complete absence—from the highly anticipated Avengers sequel.

The Terminal List Season 2: A Long Road Ahead

Amazon Prime Video’s The Terminal List was renewed for a second season over two years ago, but filming is only set to begin in March 2025. Pratt confirmed in an interview with Collider’s Steve Weintraub that production will last approximately “six or seven months.” That means he’ll be busy with the series for most of the year, balancing work and family time. With such an extensive shoot, the show isn’t expected to release until mid-to-late 2026.

While fans of the action-thriller series are excited for its return, Marvel fans now have to wonder: will Pratt have time to suit up as Star-Lord in Avengers: Doomsday?

Star-Lord’s Future in the MCU

Marvel Studios has yet to confirm Star-Lord’s role in Avengers: Doomsday, but the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 post-credits scene made one thing clear: The Legendary Star-Lord Will Return. However, if Pratt’s Terminal List schedule conflicts with Marvel’s plans, his screen time in the upcoming Avengers movie could be significantly reduced—or even cut altogether.

According to Deadline’s social media manager Natalie Sitek, Avengers: Doomsday is set to start filming in April 2025 and will be shot “fairly back to back” with Avengers: Secret Wars. Additionally, insider DanielRPK revealed that while the main cast will be filming for about a month, supporting roles will only require one to two weeks on set. If Pratt’s schedule is too tight, Marvel may have to either limit Star-Lord’s involvement or delay his next major appearance.

A Possible Workaround?

Even if Pratt’s Terminal List obligations take priority, there are still ways Marvel could include Star-Lord in Avengers: Doomsday. One option? A voice-over role or CGI-heavy scenes where he wears his helmet, allowing Pratt to record lines remotely rather than being physically present on set. Alternatively, Marvel could push his return to Avengers: Secret Wars in 2027 or give him a solo Legendary Star-Lord project, which James Gunn previously hinted at.

What’s Next for Chris Pratt?

For now, fans will have to wait and see how things unfold. With The Terminal List Season 2 locked in for a 2026 release and Avengers: Doomsday scheduled to hit theaters on May 1, 2026, scheduling conflicts could mean Star-Lord’s next big MCU moment is further down the timeline than expected. But one thing is certain—whether in the next Avengers movie or in a solo project, the Legendary Star-Lord is bound to return.

Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Doomsday arrives on May 1, 2026, followed by Avengers: Secret Wars on May 7, 2027.
