The Pokémon Company International has proudly announced the nomination of its original animated series, Pokémon: Path to the Peak, for Best Animation (Series & Channels) in the Video category at the esteemed 28th Annual Webby Awards.

Pokémon: Path to the Peak chronicles the journey of Ava and her faithful partner Pokémon, Oddish, as they strive to ascend to the summit of competitive Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) play. Breaking new ground by showcasing the popular Pokémon TCG in an animated format, the series offers viewers a delightful exploration of both casual and competitive Pokémon gameplay. Mirroring the inclusive spirit of the Play! Pokémon competitive program, which unites players of all levels for organized play, Pokémon: Path to the Peak celebrates the global Play! Pokémon community through a narrative that embodies friendship and unwavering determination.

Originally unveiled during a special screening at the 2023 Pokémon World Championships, the four-part animated series is now available for viewing on the official Pokémon YouTube channel, captivating audiences worldwide.

Developed in-house at The Pokémon Company International, a subsidiary of The Pokémon Company headquartered in Tokyo, Pokémon: Path to the Peak represents a significant milestone in the production of Pokémon content outside of Japan, where the franchise has traditionally originated.

Andy Gose, Senior Director of Media Production at The Pokémon Company International, expressed gratitude for the Webby nomination, emphasizing the company’s commitment to creating diverse and engaging content that resonates with Pokémon fans globally. Gose highlighted how the series showcases the sense of community fostered by the Pokémon competitive play program, illustrating how Pokémon serves as a unifying force.

This marks the second consecutive year that a Pokémon animated series has garnered recognition from the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences (IADAS), with Pokémon: Hisuian Snow clinching the Webby People’s Voice Winner for Best Animation (Series & Channels) in the Video category at the 27th Annual Webby Awards.

Shortlisted as a Webby Winner, Pokémon: Path to the Peak is also eligible for the Webby People’s Voice Award, which will be determined through public voting. Fans can cast their votes for Pokémon: Path to the Peak on the official Webby Awards website until April 18, 2024, at 11:59 p.m. PDT. The winners will be announced on April 23, 2024, amidst anticipation and excitement within the Pokémon community.
