In a landmark move set to redefine the landscape of the visual effects (VFX) industry, Phantom Digital Effects Limited (NSE: PHANTOMFX) has announced the acquisition of an 80% majority stake in Tippett Studio. This strategic alliance grants PhantomFX control over the operations and financial aspects of the renowned visual effects production company, founded by Oscar-winning filmmaker Phil Tippett.

Tippett Studio, celebrated for its groundbreaking contributions to blockbuster hits like JURASSIC PARK and STAR WARS, will continue its operations under its iconic name. The acquisition underscores PhantomFX’s commitment to fostering creativity, innovation, and growth within the VFX landscape, while preserving Tippett Studio’s legacy of delivering top-tier VFX and post-production services to clients worldwide.

The collaboration also emphasizes the retention of Phil Tippett’s involvement, leveraging his unparalleled expertise to develop compelling intellectual property alongside the Tippett team. Gary Mundell, CEO of Tippett North America, will maintain his position and join the board, alongside Cliff McDowell, who assumes the role of COO for North America. Phil Tippett himself will remain actively engaged, serving on the board and contributing creatively to the studio’s projects.

Bejoy Arputharaj, Chairman and Managing Director of Phantom FX, expressed his excitement about the acquisition, stating, “I’m beyond excited to announce the acquisition of Tippett Studio and collaboration with Phil Tippett. Phil Tippett’s unparalleled legacy in crafting cinematic marvels has always been a profound source of inspiration for me.”

The acquisition is projected to result in a significant revenue growth of 20-25% during the 2024-2025 financial year for PhantomFX. Additionally, it may lead to the addition of 250 to 300 employees across India, the United States, and Canada, further enhancing PhantomFX’s global footprint and capabilities.

Gary Mundell, CEO of Tippett North America, echoed the sentiment, expressing enthusiasm about the partnership. “Our dedication to delivering top-tier VFX and post-production services remains steadfast, and this collaboration opens up thrilling avenues for innovation and expansion,” he remarked.

With the integration of their expertise and resources, PhantomFX and Tippett Studio are poised to redefine industry standards and captivate audiences worldwide. This partnership signifies not only a strategic move towards global expansion but also a commitment to pushing the boundaries of imagination and creativity in visual storytelling on a global scale.
