In a much-anticipated return, Scotland’s eminent animation and visual effects (VFX) rendezvous, MOVE Summit, is set to captivate enthusiasts, industry leaders, students, and educators from around the globe. Scheduled for February 21-23, 2024, at the renowned Pleasance Courtyard in Edinburgh, this three-day extravaganza promises to celebrate the art of animation and the dynamic world of visual effects.

Organized by the visionary animator and Oscar winner Tom Bryant, the director of Interference Pattern, MOVE Summit has evolved since its inaugural year in 2017, now attracting approximately 1,000 delegates over the course of the event. The summit serves as a nexus for animation creatives, offering a platform to revel in their artistry and technical prowess.

The summit’s diverse program includes talks, workshops, creative reviews, screenings, an exhibition and recruitment fair, tech demos, networking opportunities, and business development sessions, all meticulously curated to showcase the latest advancements in the animation and VFX industries.

MOVE Summit 2024 is proud to present a stellar lineup of speakers, featuring luminaries such as Jane Wu (Blue Eye Samurai), James Williams (The Super Mario Bros. Movie, Illumination), Emilie Bach (Julián, Cartoon Saloon), Troy Quane (Nimona, Netflix), Torsten Schrank (Klaus), and Nathan Jurevicius (Scarygirl), with additional speakers yet to be announced.

A noteworthy addition to this year’s summit is the “Business @ Move” strand, a dedicated business program designed to foster collaboration between independent studios and producers with commissioners, broadcasters, agencies, and industry bodies. This initiative aims to explore mutually beneficial opportunities and innovative approaches to bringing creative projects to fruition.

The event’s itinerary is structured to cater to a diverse audience, with the first day tailored for students and the subsequent two days dedicated to animation industry professionals spanning 2D and 3D animation, virtual/augmented reality (VR/AR), VFX, motion graphics, design, and games.

MOVE Summit 2024 owes its success to the generous support of key funders and partners, including Screen Scotland, Interference Pattern, ScreenSkills Animation, Eyebolls, and HeeHaw. As the countdown begins, anticipation is high for an immersive and enlightening experience at MOVE Summit 2024, where the world of animation and visual effects converges in the heart of Scotland’s capital.
