In a startling turn of events, “Manjummel Boys” is on the verge of surpassing the renowned Rajinikanth-starrer “Lal Salaam” at the Kollywood box office. Despite Rajinikanth’s substantial screen presence, “Lal Salaam” struggled to secure commendable numbers, amassing only around 18 crores in gross revenue within Tamil Nadu.

“Manjummel Boys,” a Malayalam production, has emerged as the highest-grossing Malayalam film in the state of Tamil Nadu. Typically, Tamil films tend to excel in the Mollywood market, while Malayalam cinema seldom receives such an exceptional response in Tamil Nadu. Consequently, the unprecedented success of “Manjummel Boys” has caught industry observers off guard.

The ongoing trend suggests that it will be a straightforward feat for “Manjummel Boys” to outshine Rajinikanth’s offering. The notion of a Malayalam movie dominating a Rajinikanth film in Tamil Nadu would have seemed implausible to many. This phenomenon underscores the power of compelling content in captivating audiences.

At present, “Manjummel Boys” has grossed over 5 crores in Tamil Nadu, with yesterday marking its most lucrative day yet, raking in over 1 crore in gross revenue. The film recently received a wide release across Tamil Nadu, and this weekend is anticipated to be monumental, with a substantial number of screenings scheduled. The absence of successful Tamil releases at the moment has also contributed to the success of this survival thriller.

The unexpected triumph of “Manjummel Boys” over a cinematic legend like Rajinikanth’s “Lal Salaam” serves as a testament to the unpredictable nature of the film industry and the enduring appeal of quality storytelling.
