The Indian Institute of Creative Technologies (IICT)—India’s newly inaugurated national centre of excellence for Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, Comics & XR—has forged strategic academic partnerships with Comic Con India and Green Rain Studios. These MoUs, announced on July 24, 2025, outline structured industry-academia synergy across curriculum, innovation, and talent development.

Partnership Goals & Scope

Comic Con India × IICT will enable:

  • Student showcases and demo zones within Comic Con events
  • Masterclasses, internships & hackathons with top creative professionals
  • Development of original IP, grassroots creator ecosystem, and fan‑culture engagement modules.

Green Rain Studios × IICT will integrate:

  • Real-time tech training via Unreal Engine, virtual production, and immersive media
  • Access to Green Rain’s India-based Unreal Authorised Training Centre infrastructure.

Why This Matters for India’s AVGC-XR Strategy

  • Aligning academic programs with in‑demand industry skills, including immersive media and real-time content pipelines.
  • Offering meaningful, real-world exposure for students via live events, mentorships, and creative showcases.
  • Building a sustainable IP-centric model, moving beyond project-based hiring to creator-led narrative systems.

Institutional and Government Support

IICT was inaugurated at the NFDC campus in Mumbai, in an event attended by Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis. As part of the Ministry-led WAVES 2025 initiative, IICT aims to function as a national AVGC‑XR talent hub—with plans for a 10-acre Filmcity campus and 17 specialized courses starting September 2025.

🔗 Internal Linking Suggestions:

  • Government’s AVGC‑XR Expansion Strategy via WAVES
  • India’s Animation & VFX Education Growth Trends
  • From Classroom to Convention Floor: Student IP & Event
