In an exciting announcement made at the 2024 Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour in Pasadena, California, Disney+ has officially confirmed the return of the spine-chilling hit series “Goosebumps” for a second season. Produced by Sony Pictures Television, the new installment of eight episodes will introduce a fresh anthology twist, promising an entirely new storyline, setting, and cast inspired by R.L. Stine’s beloved Scholastic book series.

President of Disney Branded Television, Ayo Davis, expressed enthusiasm about the series’ return, citing its widespread popularity and success as one of Disney Branded Television’s most-watched shows last year. “Audiences everywhere fell in love with the series’ chills, thrills, heart, and humor,” said Davis, “We can’t wait to dive deeper into the brilliant mind of R.L. Stine.”

The upcoming season will follow teenage siblings as they uncover a mysterious threat within their home, triggering a chain of events that unravel a profound mystery. Their investigation leads them to the perplexing case of five teenagers who vanished without a trace in 1994.

Katherine Pope, president of Sony Pictures Television Studios, commended the efforts of the creative team behind the series, expressing pride in their work and the positive reception from both new and longtime fans. She highlighted the collaborative efforts with Disney Branded Television and Scholastic Entertainment in bringing Stine’s iconic world to life once again.

“Goosebumps” originated from the bestselling book series published by Scholastic, boasting over 400 million copies in print across 32 languages. The television adaptation has continued to captivate audiences with its blend of mystery, suspense, and nostalgia.

The series is developed by Nicholas Stoller and Rob Letterman, with Hilary Winston serving as showrunner. Executive producers include Neal H. Moritz, Iole Lucchese, Pavun Shetty, Conor Welch, Caitlin Friedman, and Erin O’Malley. Season 1’s visual effects were handled by Clear Angle Studios, Distillery VFX, MARZ, MPC, Outlanders VFX, and Pixomondo.

As fans eagerly anticipate the return of “Goosebumps,” the promise of a fresh anthology approach ensures that each episode will deliver a new and thrilling experience, promising to keep viewers on the edge of their seats. Stay tuned for more updates as production progresses on this eagerly awaited second season.
