Exclusive Clip: Esperanza Spalding Joins ‘Alma’s Way’ in New Musical Episode!

PBS KIDS’ Alma’s Way is back with fresh new episodes airing April 28–30, bringing more of Alma’s colorful adventures across the Bronx — and this time, with a very special guest! Grammy-winning jazz musician Esperanza Spalding lends her voice to the series, making a memorable appearance in the musical episode “Subway All-Stars.”

Esperanza Spalding Guest Stars as Zelda Jazz
In “Subway All-Stars,” Alma, Eddie, and Uncle Nestor are all set for a big performance on a subway platform — until another musician, Zelda Jazz (voiced by Spalding), shows up thinking it’s her day to perform. Instead of clashing, the characters find a joyful, musical solution: why not jam together?
The exclusive clip teases the high-energy collaboration, celebrating teamwork, spontaneity, and of course, the power of music.

Upcoming New Episodes Include:

Big Kid Hangout / Little Brother Loan
Alma wants to prove she can hang with the older kids, but being left out stings more than she expected.
When Alma’s too busy for Junior, he starts playing “little brother” for others — and Alma realizes how much she misses him.

Subway All-Stars / Bunches of Beads
A musical mix-up becomes a subway jam session!
Alma volunteers André for a big project without asking — and learns a lesson about respecting others’ time.

Alma on the Moo-ve / The Lucas Look
Alma falls in love with a rescued cow and tries to convince her Papi to let Ms. Moo stay.
When Lucas dyes his hair blue, Alma and her friends copy him — but it’s not the reaction Lucas hoped for.

About Alma’s Way
Created by Sonia Manzano (Maria from Sesame Street), Alma’s Way offers thoughtful, relatable storytelling for kids 4–6 years old, focusing on critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Produced by Fred Rogers Productions (Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood, Donkey Hodie) and animated by Pipeline Studios, the show has been praised for its diverse representation and authentic portrayal of New York City’s vibrant communities.
The show was recently renewed for Season 3, so fans can look forward to even more heartwarming and inspiring stories from Alma and her neighborhood friends!
