Marvel’s most iconic villains are getting their moment to shine
Hold onto your capes and shields, Marvel fans — because this summer, it’s not the heroes who will be saving the day. Nope. It’s time for the villains to shine (or, well, plot, deceive, and cause all sorts of chaos) in Bring on the Bad Guys!
Brought to life by Emmy Award-winning writer Marc Guggenheim, Bring on the Bad Guys flips the script on the Marvel Universe. Instead of playing second fiddle to caped crusaders, iconic villains like Doctor Doom, Loki, Green Goblin, and more are stepping out of the shadows — and right into the spotlight. And who’s behind this deliciously evil gathering? None other than Mephisto, Marvel’s favorite Lord of Lies and part-time chaos coordinator.
The Plot Thickens Faster Than a Bowl of Aunt May’s Oatmeal
The adventure kicks off with a heavy-hitter: Doctor Doom. Yes, the same Doom who’s spent a good chunk of his existence battling Mephisto to save his mother’s soul from eternal damnation. Written by Marc Guggenheim with art from Stefano Raffaele, this opening chapter promises tension thicker than vibranium armor. Will Doom truly join forces with Mephisto? Or will this alliance explode faster than one of Green Goblin’s pumpkin bombs?
A Sinister Roster of Legends
And Doom’s just the beginning. Following chapters will bring the Green Goblin, Abomination, Loki, Red Skull, and Dormammu into the fold. Each villain will star in their own issue, providing fans with juicy, never-before-seen slices of Marvel lore.
Green Goblin’s story — Written by Ethan Parker and Griffin Sheridan, with art by Matteo Della Fonte, this tale peels back the mask to reveal a shocking connection between Norman Osborn and Mephisto.
Abomination’s mission — Handled by Phillip Kennedy Johnson and Sergio Dávila, the Hulk’s grotesque nemesis embarks on a soul-recovering operation that’s bound to be anything but straightforward.
Loki’s mischief — Penned by Anthony Oliveira, this chapter sees the God of Mischief squaring off against an agent of Khonshu. Expect trickery, betrayal, and that classic Loki smirk.
Finally, Guggenheim returns to wrap it all up in a climactic chapter that will reveal Mephisto’s ultimate endgame — and, if we’re lucky, some shocking betrayals and double-crosses along the way.
Why We Can’t Resist a Good (Bad) Guy
Editor Mark Paniccia summed it up best: Marvel villains aren’t just evil — they’re compelling. They’re morally complex, strangely relatable, and absolutely terrifying when they need to be. Bring on the Bad Guys isn’t just another fight between good and evil. It’s a deep dive into the psyches of some of the Marvel Universe’s most dangerous and beloved characters.
Each issue offers a fresh lens into what makes these villains tick — and why they’ve secured a permanent spot in our hearts (right next to Spider-Man’s quips and Wolverine’s scowl).
Where and When to Grab It
Bring on the Bad Guys kicks off this summer, bringing plenty of deliciously dark action to your local comic shops. Whether you’re team Doom, Loki loyalist, or just here for Mephisto’s wicked grin, this event is shaping up to be a must-read.
Because, let’s be honest — sometimes it’s just more fun to root for the bad guys.
