In a landmark achievement, Namit Malhotra, a prominent figure in both Hollywood and Bollywood, has once again proven his mettle by winning the National Award for Best Film in Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, and Comic (AVGC) for the film Brahmastra – Part 1: Shiva. This recognition underscores Malhotra’s pioneering role in the global film industry, where he continues to push the boundaries of creative and technical excellence.

Malhotra, the founder of Prime Focus Limited and CEO of DNEG, has built a reputation for producing and financing projects on a grand scale. His recent ventures include The Garfield Movie and The Angry Birds Movie 3, which highlight his vision of delivering visually stunning and emotionally resonant films to audiences worldwide. His journey in the world of visual effects and film production has set new benchmarks, particularly with Brahmastra, which became the highest-grossing Hindi film of 2022 and the fifth highest-grossing Indian film of the year.

Directed by Ayan Mukerji and starring Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Amitabh Bachchan, Brahmastra captivated audiences with its spectacular VFX, which were brought to life under Malhotra’s leadership at Prime Focus Group. The film’s success has now been further cemented with the prestigious National Award, a recognition that highlights the groundbreaking work of the VFX teams at DNEG and ReDefine.

Reflecting on this achievement, Namit Malhotra stated, “Winning the National Award for Best VFX Film for Brahmastra is a historic milestone that elevates the Indian VFX industry to new heights globally. I am immensely proud of our team’s groundbreaking work in bringing Ayan Mukerji’s vision to life, resulting in this incredible recognition. Brahmastra represents a quantum leap in visual storytelling, and this award is a testament to the relentless pursuit of excellence by teams at DNEG and ReDefine.”

Namit Malhotra’s influence extends far beyond his technical prowess.
