Bitkraft Ventures Doubles Down on India 📈 Post-RMG Ban, Eyes Original IP & AI-Driven Gaming

After India’s ban on real-money gaming (RMG), Bitkraft Ventures is stepping up investment in India’s gaming IP, infrastructure, and interactive media, anticipating growth in IAP-driven games and long-term regulatory stability.

Bitkraft Ventures, the U.S. early-stage investor focused on gaming and interactive media, is significantly scaling up its investment activities in India in response to the Indian government’s new online gaming law, which imposed a blanket ban on real-money gaming (RMG).

Key Strategy Shifts

  • The firm will focus on original game IP created for both Indian and global audiences.
  • It plans to invest more in gaming infrastructure (tools, platforms) and interactive media that leverage AI.
  • Only regulation-compliant monetization models will be considered—such as free-to-play with in-app purchases (IAP) − not RMG.

What Bitkraft Expects

  • It projects 5-6 mobile games will cross $100 million in annual IAP revenue in India by end-2025. This would mark a substantial shift from India’s historically ad-dominant monetization model.
  • The new regulatory framework is seen by Bitkraft as improving investor confidence, offering clarity and stability—factors seen as necessary for long-term creative and financial commitment.

Existing Portfolio & Local Engagement

Bitkraft’s presence in India already includes investments in:

  • Lila Games (mobile game studio)
  • Gamezop (mobile gaming platform)
  • Mythik (global entertainment / tech-first)
  • StockGro (social investment platform)
  • It also recently led a pre-seed round (~$5.4 million) into GameRamp, a startup that helps scale and monetize games and consumer apps through AI tools.

Why This Matters for AVGC & Gaming in India

InsightImplication
Monetization ShiftWith RMG banned, IAP-based models could become the new mainstream route for revenue, especially for mobile games.
Investor ConfidenceLegal clarity gives venture capital more certainty, which helps with longer-term vision, higher budgets, and more ambitious projects.
Original Content DevelopmentEncourages studios to build IP rather than rely on licensing or short-term hit mechanics.
Tooling & Infrastructure GrowthInvestments will likely flow into supporting tools (e.g. AI, cloud, analytics) that enable game production and scalability.
