“The Wild Robot: The Must-Watch Animated Masterpiece That Will Steal Your Heart!”

It’s official: Robert Pattinson’s brooding, emo Batman won’t be crossing over into James Gunn’s DC Universe (DCU). If you were hoping to see him go toe-to-toe with Superman or join forces with the Justice League, it’s time to let that dream go. Instead, Gunn and co-chief Peter Safran are bringing in a brand-new Caped Crusader for The Brave and the Bold, ensuring that Pattinson’s Batman remains a standalone legend in Matt Reeves’ universe.

Two Batmen, Two Universes

During a recent DC Studios presentation, Gunn and Safran put the rumors to rest. “It’s certainly not the plan,” Gunn stated when asked about Pattinson’s involvement in the DCU. Safran chimed in, reinforcing their commitment to creating a fresh take on Batman for The Brave and the Bold. Translation? Gotham’s protector will be getting yet another reboot, and fans should brace themselves for a new face under the cowl.

But don’t worry, Pattinson isn’t hanging up the cape just yet. Reeves’ The Batman Epic Crime Saga is alive and well, with The Batman Part 2 set to hit theaters on October 1, 2027. That’s a five-year gap between films, but according to Safran, the script (or at least what they’ve seen of it) is looking solid.

What This Means for The Brave and the Bold

While The Batman Part 2 is chugging along, The Brave and the Bold is also moving full steam ahead. Gunn is reportedly “very, very actively involved” in the script, and while The Flash director Andy Muschietti was initially attached to direct, that’s still up in the air. Gunn and Safran want to ensure the script is perfect before deciding if Muschietti is the right fit.

So, what does this mean for the DCU’s Batman? For starters, this version of the Dark Knight will exist in the same universe as Gunn’s Superman. We already got a small taste of DCU’s Batman in Creature Commandos, where he made a brief (and very silhouette-heavy) cameo. Gunn later confirmed that Batman is well-known in the DCU, meaning his origin story will be skipped in favor of jumping straight into his vigilante exploits.

Batman & Superman: A Dynamic Duo?

Gunn’s excitement for Batman is palpable. In a recent interview, he gushed about his love for the character, calling him his all-time favorite superhero. He also hinted that Batman and Superman will share the screen at some point in the DCU, teasing “great things” for both characters.

If this means we’re getting a proper Batman-Superman team-up (without the whole Martha debacle), consider us intrigued. The DCU is clearly laying the groundwork for a new, interconnected superhero saga, and Batman is set to play a key role.

The Verdict: Two Batmen Are Better Than One?

For those worried about Batman fatigue, rest assured—both versions will offer something unique. Pattinson’s take remains grounded in Reeves’ noir-style storytelling, focusing on Gotham’s gritty underbelly. Meanwhile, DCU’s Batman will lean into the larger-than-life comic book world, likely introducing the Bat-family and expanding on his relationship with other heroes.

The only real question is: Who will don the cape and cowl for The Brave and the Bold? With Gunn & Safran keeping their cards close to the chest, fans can only speculate.

One thing’s for sure—Batman isn’t going anywhere. Whether you’re Team Pattinson or eagerly awaiting DCU’s new Dark Knight, the future of Gotham is looking as exciting as ever.

Stay tuned, Bat-fans. The best (or at least, the boldest) is yet to come.
