Sandbox VR, a leader in virtual reality gaming, has announced the release of Deadwood PHOBIA, the latest immersive experience from its in-house AAA gaming studio. This new installment is the third title in the popular Deadwood zombie franchise, building on the success of Deadwood Valley and Deadwood Mansion. Directed by Michael Hampden, a former lead designer on the Assassin’s Creed franchise, and supported by a team with experience on acclaimed games like Far Cry 6, Cyberpunk 2077, The Witcher, and Fallout 76, Deadwood PHOBIA promises a gripping psychological horror experience.

As a sequel to the best-selling Deadwood Valley, which has generated over $52 million in ticket sales and sold over 1 million tickets since its release in 2022, Deadwood PHOBIA raises the stakes by plunging players into a derelict medical facility where they must confront their deepest fears. Equipped with new weaponry and faced with life-or-death decisions, players must battle enemies in a mind-bending, cooperative virtual reality environment. With multiple possible endings and special rewards for top players, the game offers a unique experience with every playthrough.

Steve Zhao, CEO and Founder of Sandbox VR, stated, “Our goal with each new experience is to immerse players in virtual worlds where they can interact, cooperate, and explore new realities together. Deadwood PHOBIA takes our franchise to new heights by introducing psychological horror and deeper player engagement.”

Michael Hampden, Director of Deadwood PHOBIA, added, “We wanted to push the boundaries of VR by exploring common fears and phobias, creating a truly unique and unsettling experience. The reactions are different for each player, making it one of the most immersive social-horror experiences available.”

With Sandbox VR now operating in 50 global locations and a rapidly growing player base of over 100,000 monthly users, the company continues its global expansion through corporate-owned sites and a thriving franchise program.
