Filmmaker Jeethu Joseph’s acclaimed thriller franchise, “Drishyam,” is set to conquer Hollywood as Panorama Studios, Gulfstream Pictures, and JOAT Films join forces for an English-language adaptation. Following the success of the Indian and Chinese versions, this move marks a significant expansion of the franchise’s global reach.

Variety reports that Panorama Studios has secured international remake rights for both the original film and its sequel from Aashirvad Cinemas. Additionally, plans are underway for a Spanish-language rendition of the popular franchise.

Kumar Mangat Pathak, Chairman and Managing Director of Panorama Studios, expressed enthusiasm for the project’s potential to resonate with audiences worldwide. He stated, “Drishyam’s clever narrative has a universal appeal, and we are keen to celebrate this story with audiences worldwide.”

Collaborators Mike Karz and Bill Bindley of Gulfstream Pictures echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the timelessness of the thriller and their anticipation to introduce it to American audiences. “We can’t wait to bring the movie to fans here in the U.S.,” they remarked in a joint statement.

“Drishyam” originated in Malayalam cinema in 2013, featuring performances by Mohanlal and Meena. The gripping storyline soon transcended language barriers, leading to successful adaptations in Hindi, Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Sinhala, and Chinese. The Hindi remake, starring Ajay Devgn and Tabu, garnered over Rs 345.05 crore worldwide.

With Hollywood and Korean adaptations on the horizon, the “Drishyam” franchise shows no signs of slowing down. As Pathak revealed, the ambitious goal is to produce the film in 10 countries over the next three to five years.

While anticipation builds for the release of the English and Korean versions, fans can celebrate the enduring legacy of “Drishyam” and its continued expansion into new territories.
