India is primed to lead global gaming innovation—not just through outsourcing, but through owning creative pipelines. Despite having 568 million gamers, studios from the nation primarily played support roles, such as art, QA, and testing for foreign publishers. Now, this is changing.

LightFury Games, based in Bengaluru, exemplifies this shift. Rather than navigating the volatile RMG market, they are building original IP from concept through delivery. Their upcoming game, E-Cricket, is being developed in Unreal Engine 5, supported by Amazon Web Services and AI to deliver seamless, hardware-agnostic performance.CEO Karan Shroff emphasizes that combining world-class technology with Indian and global talent can catalyze India’s emergence as an AAA gaming ecosystem.

Broader Momentum & Industry Context

India’s gaming market is forecasted to hit $4.5 billion by 2025, signaling wider potential for original development. Supporting this growth, Indian AVGC sectors—with cost-effective high-quality output, robust talent pools, and government incentives—are increasingly shifting from service models to creating cutting-edge content and immersive experiences.

However, there remains a significant 2.3 million talent gap in the sector. To capitalize on this moment, the industry must expand training programs, level up infrastructure, and strategically bridge the employability divide—especially beyond metro areas.

Why This Matters for AVGC & XR Creation
