NODWIN Gaming, a leading esports firm in South Asia, has taken a major step forward by acquiring Sony Interactive Entertainment’s (SIE) ownership stake in the Evolution Championship Series (Evo) — the longest-running and most prestigious fighting game tournament. With this acquisition, NODWIN now holds the majority share in Evo alongside existing co-owner RTS. The financial details of the deal have not been disclosed.
Despite the divestment, Sony will maintain its relationship with Evo as a global sponsor through 2028, continuing to support PlayStation Tournaments and other initiatives designed to grow the fighting game community.
Akshat Rathee, Co-Founder and Managing Director of NODWIN Gaming, emphasized their commitment to Evo’s legacy: “We will continue SIE’s great work and honor the legacy of everyone who has made it what it is today, while opening the door for a new generation to experience the spirit of Evo.
Meanwhile, Phil Rosenberg, SVP at Sony, reaffirmed his company’s vision when it first acquired Evo in 2021 — to elevate the global fighting game fanbase and position Evo at the center of real competitive expression.
In parallel, Qiddiya (Saudi Arabia) has expanded its engagement with Evo by deepening investment in RTS and extending its partnership through 2027 — signaling further international expansion for the series. This ownership realignment is expected to drive more global events, immersive content, and fan-first esports experiences.
