Netflix is stepping up its animated content strategy this June 2025 by adding popular anime series to its global lineup, ranging from nostalgia-rich seasons to brand-new originals.
Pokémon XY Returns June 1
Starting June 1, Netflix will reintroduce Pokémon the Series: XY, Kalos Quest, and XYZ, totaling 145 episodes. These Kalos-region seasons, originally aired between 2013–2016, follow Ash Ketchum and newcomers Serena, Clemont, and Bonnie through elevated storytelling and animation (whats-on-netflix.com, m.economictimes.com). The move capitalizes on anime nostalgia and aligns with the upcoming release of Pokémon Legends: Z-A.
Pokémon Horizons: Season 2 – The Search for Laqua (Part 3) on June 27
On June 27, Netflix drops new episodes of Pokémon Horizons Season 2, part 3 titled “The Search for Laqua”, featuring characters Liko and Roy continuing their Paldea region journey. This original series is the first in the franchise not to center on Ash, marking a fresh direction for Pokémon’s animated content (polygon.com, m.economictimes.com).
Broader Anime Slate & Weekly Releases
Beyond Pokémon, Netflix continues weekly streams of One Piece: Egghead Island Arc (Part 2), Witch Watch, and YAIBA: Samurai Legends, offering a diverse anime lineup including shōnen, comedy, and fantasy genres (whats-on-netflix.com).
