Rock Paper Scissors Is Back — And Things Are About to Get Weird
Nickelodeon is keeping the chaos coming — and we couldn’t be happier. The beloved animated trio of Rock Paper Scissors isn’t going anywhere anytime soon, as the studio has officially renewed the zany comedy for not one, but TWO more seasons. That’s right, both Season 2 and Season 3 are locked in, each packed with 10 new episodes of roommate ridiculousness, bizarre brawls, and friendship-fueled fun.
So if you’ve ever wondered what would happen if the world’s most iconic hand game became sentient and shared an apartment, your dream continues.
The Wacky World of Rock, Paper & Scissors
Premiering in February 2024, Rock Paper Scissors quickly became a breakout hit, snagging the #1 spot among kids 2-11 and 6-11 for new animated shows. Clearly, this trio of anthropomorphized roommates struck a chord with the slime-loving crowd.
What’s it all about? Imagine a world where the age-old game isn’t just a conflict resolver — it’s a lifestyle. Rock, Paper, and Scissors are best friends navigating everyday absurdities, competitive antics, and friendship goals that frequently spiral into hilarious chaos. They compete over literally everything: chores, snacks, fame, whose butt is the funniest… nothing is off-limits.
Meet the Roommates
Each of the main characters brings their own brand of weird to the mix:
Rock (voiced by Ron Funches): Sweet, strong, and shockingly sincere, Rock is an aspiring model with the biggest heart of the bunch — and the biceps to match.
Paper (Thomas Lennon): The self-declared genius and wannabe inventor who’s one bad experiment away from turning the apartment into a crater.
Scissors (Carlos Alazraqui): The cool kid with a swagger problem. Overconfident? Always. Endearing? Surprisingly, yes.
And don’t forget the supporting cast:
Pencil (Melissa Villaseñor) is the genius neighbor with a love for silly jokes and accidental breakthroughs.
Lou the Landlord (Eddie Pepitone) is, naturally, a literal trash can. Who’s also grumpy. And sometimes wise. It’s a vibe.
Seasons 2 & 3: What’s in Store?
Season 2 is already in production and will debut this fall on Nickelodeon, with international release scheduled for 2026. Nickelodeon is doubling down on fan engagement by also greenlighting 20 one-minute shorts, set to launch later this year across the network’s digital platforms. Expect bite-sized madness, behind-the-scenes mischief, and maybe an entire short about socks (don’t ask — just wait).
According to Ramsey Naito, President of Paramount Animation and Nickelodeon Animation, the series hits all the right notes: “humor, heart, and unforgettable characters.” And let’s be real — in a world of reboots and rehashes, Rock Paper Scissors feels refreshingly weird in all the best ways.
Where to Watch & What to Binge
Fans can stream all 20 episodes of Season 1 exclusively on Paramount+ starting May 28. Popular episodes like “The Birthday Police” and “Paper’s Big Lie” are already racking up views on the Nicktoons YouTube channel, where additional shorts and sneak peeks will roll out in the coming weeks.
Created by Kyle Stegina and Josh Lehrman (both of Robot Chicken fame), the show was born out of Nickelodeon’s Intergalactic Shorts Program and has already racked up nominations from the Annie Awards, Children’s & Family Emmys, and NAMIC Vision Awards.
