Butter Bot Might Have a New Purpose?! Rick and Morty Season 8 is Coming in Hot
My Image

Wubba lubba dub dub, folks — the Rick and Morty chaos engine is revving back to life! Adult Swim has officially unleashed the Season 8 trailer of the Emmy-winning sci-fi comedy, and it’s every bit as unhinged, hilarious, and gloriously nihilistic as fans could hope.
Premiering May 25 at 11 p.m. ET/PT, Season 8 promises more galactic goofiness, infinite timelines, messed-up morals, and yes — probably some existential dread topped with burps and lasers.
What’s New in the Multiverse?
Let’s face it — Rick and Morty doesn’t need to change much to keep us hooked. The formula of “Rick does something dangerously stupid, Morty screams a lot, and timelines fracture” still works like a charm. But the Season 8 trailer teases even more:
New interdimensional shenanigans (of course)
More family drama with Summer, Jerry, Beth… and other Beth
Hints at big reveals, bizarre tech, and maybe a new arc for our beloved (and very tired) Butter Bot
Basically, anything is possible — and knowing Rick, it probably already happened in another reality.
A Bit of a Recap, Eh?
For the few souls who haven’t been chronically bingeing this cosmic rollercoaster, here’s a refresher. Rick and Morty launched in 2013, created by Dan Harmon (Community) and Justin Roiland (Solar Opposites), and follows the toxic genius Rick Sanchez and his long-suffering grandson Morty Smith as they stumble through wormholes, parallel universes, and deeply uncomfortable family dinners.
Now eight seasons in, the show has not only become a cult classic, it’s basically the Doctor Who of American animation — if the Doctor were blackout drunk, emotionally damaged, and thought morality was a joke.
Who’s Who in Season 8?
Since Season 7, Rick and Morty has a fresh voice cast after Roiland’s departure, but the vibe? Still peak multiverse madness.
Ian Cardoni continues voicing Rick Sanchez with that perfect blend of apathy and god-complex energy.
Harry Belden brings a slightly more emotionally nuanced take to Morty (he cries a little prettier now).
Chris Parnell is back as the perpetually clueless Jerry.
Spencer Grammer returns as Summer, probably with more chaotic energy than ever.
Sarah Chalke voices Beth and Space Beth — cue identity crises and laser guns.
Butter Bot and the Return of Running Gags
The trailer teases the possible return of Butter Bot, the robotic meme who once asked, “What is my purpose?” and was told, “You pass butter.” If that joke wasn’t existential enough the first time, imagine what Season 8 might do to him. Therapy bot, anyone?
Also spotted: weird gadgets, high-concept tech disasters, mind-bending scenery, and what looks suspiciously like a new Morty variant. Because, naturally, no dimension is safe.
Stay in the Loop
Adult Swim recommends following the show on YouTube, Instagram, X (Twitter), and Facebook at @RickandMorty and @AdultSwim to stay plugged into the multiverse — or at least the latest meme-worthy clips.
TL;DR: Why You Need to Watch Rick and Morty Season 8
Premiering May 25 at 11 p.m. ET/PT on Adult Swim
Season 8 trailer is live and full of wild, weird, wonderful energy
Familiar voices, new chaos, and possibly… redemption arcs?
Butter Bot might finally get a meaningful job
Intergalactic mayhem guaranteed — and some feels, probably against your will
